DRILL PRESS OR CORDLESS DRILL?

The tools are not made to work in a drill press or a cordless drill. A drill press requires the log to be clamped vertically which is dangerous and difficult to do.

*Exceptions: The 1/2" and 5/8" tenon cutters may be used in a cordless drill

HOW DEEP DO I DRILL THE MORTISE HOLE?

1/3 - 1/2 the diameter of the log

      HOW LONG DO I CUT THE TENON?

      1/4" less than the depth of the hold. You want the tenon to "float" in the hold and not to "bottom out" or hit the bottom of the mortise hole.
